The Henderson Independent School District serves 3,800 students from nursery school through 12th grade at seven separate campuses. Grades one through three each enjoy their own elementary school, a philosophy that allows faculty to centrally locate resources and specialize teaching needs for each group of children during the school term. Fourth and fifth grades combine at Northside Intermediate, which is a pioneer in the "school within a school" movement popular in the elite educational circles today.
Henderson High School offers an accelerated academic track for students eyeing college. Some take advantage of the dual-credit courses Kilgore College offers here, while others pursue the vocational and technical paths.
